Clubs

We run a variety of clubs across the school year

including gardening, choir, art, creative writing,

French and chess.

Art Club

Art club is an after school club that runs on a Wednesday. All year groups have a chance to enter at different times of the year and each project generally lasts for 6- 8 weeks.

Children partake in different art and craft activities, learn about different art movements, Artists (past and current) and look at famous works of art. Children have the chance to experiment with a range of different media and art tools and practise new skills.

In the past art club have painted current popular icons in a pop art style and visited exhibitions at Southampton City art gallery. Art club have made photomontages with mixed media and collaborated with each other to create group art projects. The children have made a giant collage of a wave in the style of Hokusai and have experimented with straw painting, pastel drawing, marbling, cardboard modelling and making surrealist paintings. Each project is new and the children are guided but get to decide the final outcome for themselves.

Art club is designed to give the children a wide range of art experience, to have fun and try out new ideas and techniques.

Chess Club

Chess Club is held every Wednesday lunchtime in Mrs Bunting’s office.

Anyone can come along and play. If you can already play you can have a game against someone else or you can help someone who is new to the game.

After some practise sessions we set up a tournament to see who will be the champion.

When the weather is warm we will go outside and use the giant chess pieces in the Chess Board Quad.

So if you would like to learn how to play or just have a game then simply turn up in Mrs Bunting’s office once you have eaten lunch.

Gardening Club

When? Tuesday lunchtimes - 12.45pm onwards

Where? Once you have had your lunch, come along to the courtyard by the sports hall.

We plant and grow seeds, vegetables and flowers, and also help to keep the school grounds tidy and free of litter. If you are interested in joining please speak to Mrs McClue.

Music Clubs : Choir

When: Every Tuesday lunchtime at 12.45 (have your lunch first)

Where: In Miss Norris’ classroom

Anyone from any year group is welcome to come along. We currently have around 60 children regularly singing with us. Songs that we have been learning include: Raise My Voice, Wade in the Water, Sing with Joy and Lean on Me.

We are also looking for new members, so if you are a keen singer, please come along!
