“Children don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
Abbotswood Junior School has been at the heart of the Totton community since the 1930s, with many of our pupils following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents. Although a large school with approximately 600 children, we are justifiably proud of Abbotswood’s friendly, community atmosphere.
To tell you a little about myself - I am an experienced Headteacher, entering my 10th year at Abbotswood. Previously, I have worked and taught in a range of schools in Suffolk, Southampton and Hampshire. As a parent of two girls who have now left secondary school, I see the importance of a good primary school from both a learning and social aspect. On a personal note, I have always been passionate about sport and this is reflected in the range of sporting opportunities available to the children at Abbotswood.
Forming strong relationships between everyone at the school is the most important thing we do. Building on these relationships, we are able to develop independent, lifelong learners who are proud to be members of the Abbotswood Community. We want our children to achieve not only great academic success, but be well rounded, thriving young people ready for the next stage in their lives.
“Teachers who put relationships first don’t just have students for one year. They have children that view them as ‘their’ teacher for life."
